What this actually involves
The right answer depends on whether you can get a cable there, and how much you mind charging batteries. We will tell you which one suits the building.
Wireless cameras
Quick to fit where a cable cannot go. Good for rentals and awkward outbuildings, as long as you accept the battery routine.
Solar cameras
For gates, yards and anywhere with no power. In Bakersfield the sun is not the limiting factor — the mounting position is.
The part that matters
Placement is the whole job
A camera mounted too high gives you a lovely view of the top of somebody’s head. Pointed at a driveway facing west, it gives you a silhouette every evening. Most of the useless footage we get shown comes down to where the camera ended up, not what it cost.
We walk the property first, work out the approach paths and the light, and place cameras that will produce footage you can actually give to somebody. Then we set up recording, notifications and remote viewing on your phone before we leave.

Questions we get asked every week
How many cameras do I need?
Fewer than most people are sold. Cover the approaches — front door, driveway, side gate, back door — before worrying about full coverage. Four well-placed cameras beat eight badly aimed ones.
Do I need a subscription?
Not with a wired system recording to an NVR on site. Some wireless brands push you towards cloud storage; we will tell you which ones do before you buy.
Will it work when the internet goes out?
A wired system keeps recording locally. Wireless cloud cameras generally do not. That is one of the main reasons we recommend wired where the cable can be run.
Can you fix a system somebody else installed?
Frequently. Repositioning, re-terminating cables, or getting the app working again is a common call-out and often a short job.
