What this actually involves
Cabling is the part of a building nobody looks at until it fails. Done properly once, it outlasts three generations of the equipment plugged into it.
Fibre backbone
Between buildings, floors or a detached shop. Long runs where copper gives up, terminated and tested properly.
Racks & patch panels
A cabinet that makes sense — panels labelled, patch leads the right length, power and ventilation thought about.
Testing & documentation
Every run tested and labelled at both ends, with a record you keep. This is the part most installers skip.
The part that matters
Wired still beats wireless for the things that matter
One of our customers put it better than we could: connecting all of their iMacs to a wired network was, in their words, the best thing they could have done for the business, because Wi-Fi simply would not reach every room of a large building.
Wireless is convenient. Cable is reliable. Desks, cameras, access points, TVs and point-of-sale terminals all belong on cable if a cable can reach them — and a properly cabled building makes the wireless work better too, because every access point gets its own dedicated feed.

Questions we get asked every week
Can you cable an occupied office?
Yes, and most of what we do is exactly that. We work around business hours where it matters and keep the disruption to the room we are in.
Cat6 or Cat6a?
Cat6 is right for most offices. Cat6a is worth it for long runs, high-density Wi-Fi feeds and anywhere you expect multi-gigabit soon. We will tell you which your building justifies.
Do you test what you install?
Every run, both ends, and you get the results. An untested cable is just a guess with a plug on it.
Do you do homes as well?
Yes — wiring a house for hardwired TVs, access points, cameras and a small rack is increasingly common and much easier during a remodel.
